Of all the names floated for one of the most high-profile jobs in Washington, nobody had this one on their bingo card.
The man who built the UFC into a global empire.
Dana White.
The Post That Lit Up the Internet
On Saturday, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social and offered White the job of White House Press Secretary, according to TMZ.
Trump promised White would be a press secretary unlike any other, and ended the post by asking him to say yes.
Whether the President was being serious or having some fun is still anyone’s guess. Even TMZ admitted it was hard to tell.
But it was the next part that really got people talking…
He Even Named the Backup Team
Trump didn’t stop at White. He suggested the UFC boss could bring along some “assistants” — and listed some of the toughest names in combat sports:
- Islam Makhachev
- Khabib Nurmagomedov
- Justin Gaethje
- Daniel Cormier
- Amanda Nunes
- Kayla Harrison
Honestly? Picture that line-up walking into the briefing room.
So how did it come to this?
A Job Nobody Can Hold Onto
The role is open again after the most recent press secretary left after only a matter of days, according to TMZ, and the search for a replacement has turned into one of the most talked-about stories in Washington.
Plenty of names have been thrown around. None of them came from the world of cage fighting — until now.
Decades of Friendship
White and Trump go back a long way. Trump was one of the first big names to back the UFC in its early days, hosting events at his Atlantic City casino when other venues wouldn’t touch the sport.
White returned the favour years later, speaking at the 2024 Republican National Convention and taking the stage on election night.
But there’s one thing many people have forgotten…
The Twist: White Said He Was Done With Politics
After the 2024 election, White said he had no plans to take a role in the administration — or to get involved in politics at all.
So will he change his mind for his old friend? White hasn’t publicly answered yet.
