Michael Jackson’s only daughter Paris proud of African-American roots, identifies as black.

Paris Jackson, the daughter of the late pop star Michael Jackson, recently spoke about her African-American heritage and expressed her pride in it. She also addressed the criticism she faced.

Paris, aged 25, was born in 1998 to Billie Jean hitmaker and Debbie Rowe.

Throughout time, people have speculated that Jackson may not be the biological father of his three children, Paris, Bigi, and Prince. This is because many have noticed that the kids do not bear a strong resemblance to the late star, particularly Paris who has fair skin, light eyes, and recently dyed her hair blond.

The children had a strong bond with their dad, who made sure to shield them from the media’s attention. However, his methods were unique. He would conceal his son Bigi’s face with a blanket when they appeared in public, which caused some difficulties for Bigi as he grew older due to teasing from his friends. Nowadays, he prefers to go by the name Bigi.

After the star passed away in 2009, his kids were left alone in the spotlight, becoming a lucrative target for the media who eagerly shared their pictures and tracked their every move.

Paris was left struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after this incident.

She shared that she has been going to therapy for various issues, which include experiencing audio hallucinations occasionally, particularly with camera clicks, and having severe paranoia.

At the age of 15, Paris made several suicide attempts and was later admitted to a treatment center in 2019. She experienced self-hatred, low self-esteem, and believed she couldn’t do anything right. These thoughts led her to question her worthiness of living.

Today, she has become a prosperous musician, following in her father’s path. Throughout the years, she has also graced the catwalk for renowned brands like Chanel. Paris is a part of the band The Soundflowers.

In 2020, she mentioned, “All my family members are into music. Being a Jackson, it’s only natural for me to pursue music. However, it’s quite unexpected for a Jackson to be involved in folk indie.”

Paris has a strong bond with her brothers and admires Prince. She expressed to People in 2020 how important her older brother is to her. She mentioned, “He means the world to me. I’ve always admired him and sought his approval. I’ve always wanted to emulate him.”

He has a deep love and strong support for his younger sister. He mentioned that she is essentially a reflection of their father’s personality, with the only differences being her age and gender. He also noted that she shares her father’s strengths and most of his weaknesses. She is a highly passionate individual.

The King of Pop’s looks changed a lot during his life. Some said he lightened his skin, which used to be much darker when he was younger. However, he insisted he never did anything to his skin and that it turned white because of Vitiligo, as he explained in a 1993 Oprah interview.

“I am proud of my race. I am proud of who I am,” Jackson told Winfrey at the time.

In 2017, Paris spoke about herself in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. She mentioned that she identifies as black and shared a memory of Michael Jackson encouraging her to embrace her roots.

People who are not familiar with me often refer to me as white. I have fair skin and, especially after dyeing my hair blonde, I resemble someone from Finland,” she explained. “I trust my dad’s words because he has never deceived me before.”

Paris faced backlash after making a statement about race, with Wendy Williams being one of the critics.

She may identify as black, but I’m focusing on the appearance. Being black isn’t about what you call yourself, it’s about how the police perceive you in a dangerous situation.

She included, “That’s what they observe. However, it’s adorable and beneficial for her.”
