A couple who announced their engagement six decades after first falling in love in high school is evidence that true love endures.

Sometimes the concept of true love may feel like something that only exists in books and romantic flicks like The Notebook or Ghost.

Due to the challenges of life, it might be difficult to retain relationships with people we used to have strong bonds with in our youth.

However, the touching tale of Thomas and Nancy, who are being married 60 years after the initial sparks flew, is real proof that emotions can endure despite time.

One of Thomas’ coworkers captured their recent engagement at an airport, where they were surrounded by emotional well-wishers, on TikTok.

They started dating in high school about 60 years ago, but after their initial relationship didn’t last, they gradually lost touch. When the couple got back together last month, their bond was still as strong as ever, and they both felt as though no time had gone.

After communicating for several weeks, Thomas and Nancy travelled to Tampa to meet, and it was then that Thomas proposed to Nancy while everyone else was in tears.

Thomas made a moving statement in which he professed his love for Nancy. He said: “My dear Nancy, it has been 60 years since we first met, 56 years since we first dated, 10 years since I last saw you, and 20 days since we reconnected.”

He reflected on his long-ago crush on her as a cheerleader and how seeing her now makes him happy and makes his heart skip a beat. He admitted that for the previous three weeks, he had been thinking about her every day and talking to her for hours every night.

Thomas emphasized that Nancy’s inner and outer beauty has always captured him and expressed his happiness at being able to embrace Nancy in his arms after all these years.

To grow old with her, awaken in her arms each morning, share hopes and aspirations, and support one another through good times and bad, he promised to make every day an exciting adventure.

Thomas expressed his love for Nancy and pledged to spend the rest of his life making sure she is content and aware of his love for her.

Nancy was overcome with emotion, immediately saying yes to the heartfelt proposal.
